To navigate and thrive through change, different behaviours are required for insights leaders. Insights leaders should move away from focussing on foundational research and technical expertise and focus more behaviours for impactful delivery. The emphasis is increasingly on HOW insights do things, HOW insights show up and HOW insights take a seat at the boardroom table.
From our analysis in Insights 2030, we observed leading organisations prioritising leadership behaviours that focus on HOW insights show up in the organisation.
Next to a strong commercial focus, leading organisations are considering behaviours like listening, communicating the big picture and emotional intelligence as absolutely essential. These support insights leaders to move from WHAT (data), to the SO WHAT (insights) and ultimately to the NOW WHAT (recommendations with impact).
Building on what we learned from the drivers in the EMPACT house, we identified six critical insights leadership behaviours aligned to the three themes of Empathy, Provocation and Activation.
